Rajendra Kumar Baid, started Janpath Samachar in 1982. For the promotion of Hindi Language and to provide an independent voice to the people of Siliguri and entire North Bengal and Sikkim. Since inception, Janpath Samachar has been involved in community development projects. Vidyasagar Sansthan, Pradhan, Nagar was set up to meet the educational requirements of poor and needy children of Pradhan Nagar area. Acharya Tulsi Primary School, Mahakalpally, was completed in 1982, to provide education to 250 children. Janpath Samachar runs a large number of community welfare programmes through its in house NGO, Mission for Population Control, DHR India Support Group & DHR India Trust.
