Since inception, Janpath Samachar has been involved in community development projects. Vidyasagar Sansthan, Pradhan, Nagar was set up to meet the educational requirements of poor and needy children of Pradhan Nagar area. Acharya Tulsi Primary School, Mahakalpally, was completed in 1982, to provide education to 250 children. Janpath Samachar runs a large number of community welfare programmes through its inhouse NGO, Mission for Population Control, DHR India Support Group & DHR India Trust. Details of some community welfare projects are given below:

  1. Janpath Health Clinic organizes General, Eye & Dental Check Up Camps in areas around Siliguri.

  2. Vasectomy & Ligation operation camps are organized in Association with Dist. Health & Family Welfare Society, Govt. of West Bengal, Jalpaiguri & Darjeeling.

  3. Janpath Samachar Charitable Lab runs a X-Ray unit and Pathology Lab in association with Siliguri Surya Nagar Samaj Kalyan Sanstha.

  4. Acharya Mahapragya Computer Centre in Deshbandhu Hindi High School.

  5. Construction of Anuvrat Sabhaghar(Community Centre) in Prakash Nagar, Siliguri.

DHR India Support Group and DHR India Trust is another community initiative of Janpath Samachar which is working for conservation of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway & for beautification of Siliguri – Darjeeling Hill Cart Road and Siliguri – Gangtok Road. 3 Gardens have been set up in co-operation with local people in Tindharia, Rongtong Busty No.2 and Chunabhatti on Darjeeling road to beautify the road and to give the local population a clean environment where children can play and elders can sit and watch life passing by. Photo points and View points have been constructed near Sevoke Coronation Bridge to promote local self employment in Sevoke area and to conserve the Coronation Bridge which is an important part of the heritage of this region. Details of some projects run by above organizations are given below :

  1. DHR Health Initiative makes an annual donation of Health Equipment to government hospitals like Matri Sadan, Siliguri, Tindharia Railway Hospital, Siliguri Hospital, Kurseong Hospital amd P.H.C.’s in Mirik, Gayabari and Sukna.

  2. Vocational Training programmes for unemployed youth in Tourism Sector and Tailoring and Sewing courses for ladies were conducted in Sevoke, Tindharia, Rongtong and Gayabari.

  3. Re-construction of Primary Schools in Tindharia, Rongtong and Rongtong Busty No. 2.

Janpath Samachar continues to make an impact on this region by being the voice of the people of this region. Being Locally Owned, Locally Reported and Locally Respected it enjoys the trust of the people of this region and promises to fight for the rights of the people of this region.
